Neue Perspektiven für den ländlichen Raum

Architektur als Landschaft: Der Serpentine-Pavillon 2019 von Junya Ishigami • Japanese architect Junya Ishigami creates works that are highly complex yet almost seem to melt into the landscape. For this year’s Serpentine Pavilion, a roof of heavy slate slabs balances on delicate columns.

Die soziale Wende der Architektur • Can Architecture improve society? For Anna Ramos, the legacy of the Bauhaus lies in the idealism of architecture, in which not style, but improving everyday life is at the heart of the matter.

Von Bonn aus in die Welt • West German Architecture –A Survey of Four Decades

Organische Kuppel aus Verbundfaser • The transparent dome spans 23 m at the Federal Horticultural Show in Heilbronn. With the pavilion, structures made of glass and carbon fibres have crossed the threshold from research into practice.

Architektur im Dialog • Built Environment in Rural Areas: Preview of the DETAIL Congress 2019

Das Dorf ist tot! Es lebe das Dorf! • Many rural areas are being hit by structural change: more and more villages are becoming extinct. Just how these might be revitalized is shown by examples in Bavaria, Piedmont, Lombardy and the Grisons.

Ferienhaus im Alentejo

Streckhof mit Schnapsbrennerei im Burgenland

Wochenendhaus in Katalonien

Einfamilienhaus bei Melbourne

Sommerhaus in Südschweden

Maisons Duc in Saint-Maurice im Wallis

Geschichte in Schichten

Haus am Hallstätter See • The new, brightly coloured larch window frames and larch siding reveal that we are looking at a new house. This replacement for a 16th century building in danger of collapse harmonizes perfectly with the historic houses of Hallstatt in the Austrian Salzkammergut area. Given the complex topology, building in the World Cultural Heritage site was both challenge and motivation for Luger & Maul.

Der Fels als vierte Fassade

Flarzhäuser in Elsau bei Winterthur • A meadow with fruit-bearing trees used to be the central place of Elsau in the Canton of Zurich. Now 80 villagers live here in 33 new apartments. The plan by Staufer & Hasler Architekten refers to the traditional Flarz house of the Zurich highlands – a type of farmhouse with windows oriented towards the south, the term “Flarz” originally meaning “to crouch” – and includes two compact, linear buildings situated on the knoll in the heart of the village. Together with the replacement for the old school building, they complete the village ensemble with its farmhouses and barns. A large part of the exterior greenspace was preserved for the village community.
